The Maisons sport santé - sports and health centers - offer personalized assessment and physical activity sessions, supervised by a professional. In Paris, the first city-run center opened in 2022 at the Curial gymnasium in the 19th arrondissement, a priority district. Several new openings are planned for 2024. The first is scheduled for May 15 in the 15th arrondissement, rue Lefebvre. The scheme enables all Parisians to get moving.
Paris is gradually deploying Maisons sport santé - Sports and health centers - throughout the city. In 2024, several new Maisons sport santé will see the light of day. The aim of these facilities is to enable all Parisians to take part in a suitable sporting activity close to home, and to get away from a sedentary lifestyle.
This service informs, assesses and directs users to the full range of existing services. Physical assessments and follow-ups are handled by these centers, and free or low-cost activity slots are offered throughout Paris.
In Île-de-France, 86% of the population is insufficiently physically active, below the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO):
  • Adults aged 18 to 64 and the elderly should engage in at least 150 minutes of weekly moderate-intensity endurance activity, or at least 75 minutes of sustained-intensity endurance activity.
  • Children and young people aged 5 to 17 should accumulate at least 60 minutes a day of moderate to sustained physical activity.
For people living with a chronic illness, physical activity has been recognized as a non-drug therapy since 2011.

Individual assessment and discipline

Sports and health centers are intended for Parisians living with a chronic disease or at risk of developing one, referred by their doctor.
If you have the slightest doubt about your eligibility, the health center teams can put you in touch with a doctor for a possible prescription.
This is the first step in benefiting from the MSS scheme. These teams welcome people for an individual assessment to better identify their needs, with the help of a series of physical tests carried out on site.
Physical activity sessions are organized with the needs and abilities of the participants in mind.
With the support of the professionals, everyone can find the discipline that suits them best to reconcile their body with sport: getting back into shape, gentle or Zen gymnastics, weight training, Zen gymnastics at the rate of one or two sessions a week. To ensure overall monitoring of beneficiaries, assessments are carried out every three months to evaluate progress.

Get moving wherever you are!

To help you integrate physical activity into your daily routine, Maisons Sport-Santé has developed a series of short, accessible videos. These videos are designed to be easily integrated at different times of the day, whether you're in the office, at home, or out and about.
