If you're moving into or out of Paris, what do you need to do about parking? Find out all about the digital moving service.

Apply for a Temporary Occupancy Permit - Autorisation d’occupation temporaire (AOT) for removals

Why?

The AOT signifies the City of Paris' agreement to the necessary parking arrangements for your move.
It is compulsory for :
  • Parking outside a paid parking lane (delivery zone, bus lane, sidewalk, etc.);
  • Parking for more than six consecutive hours in the same space;
  • Using a furniture lift.
The rates applied are less expensive than those for standard parking.

The contact e-mail address is qiq-qrzrantrzrag@cnevf.se[dvd-demenagement puis paris.fr après le signe @].

When?

At least 15 days before the moving date.

How?

By submitting a request on the dedicated digital service.
You must log in with a "My Paris" account. The e-mail address associated with this account will allow you to:
  • receive a receipt confirming that your application has been submitted;
  • follow any exchanges during the application process;
  • receive a link for a payment process if the application is successful;
  • receive the AOT and registration link (must be completed before arrival on site) after payment.

You can consult your Mon Paris dashboard to check the progress of your request and find all the e-mails sent by our digital service.
Important
- The City of Paris cannot reserve a parking space for you. However, if your parking space is occupied, the AOT issued will allow you to occupy any free space in the nearby paid parking strip.

- Your request may be accompanied by a "ventousage" period (reservation of parking spaces as and when they become available). However, you, not the City of Paris, will be responsible for this. You will be billed for this period, which must be included in the length of time you occupy the space.
Example: I request an AOT from 7am to 12pm, planning to vacate during the 7am-9am time slot and then move during the 9am-12am time slot.

- Modification of an AOT before it is issued is possible at no extra cost if requested at least 2 working days before the date of the move.

- Rescheduling an AOT after it has been issued (postponement, change of parking zone, etc.) is possible if requested at least 2 working days before the date of the move. Additional payment will be required if the scope of services is increased.

- The AOT cannot be reimbursed for cancellations, except in cases of force majeure.
Please note: the following parking areas are excluded from the AOT scheme for removals:
  • For work carried out by private individuals or professionals (on the public highway, but also on private property with parking on the public highway). In this case, submit your request via the digital CITE service;
  • For rubble removal, grease trap removal. In this case, please send a request to the Section Territoriale de Voirie (STV) concerned;
  • Event-related. In this case, submit a request via the AOT digital service for event parking.

Approval of request

The Temporary Occupancy Authorization (AOT) for the move is sent to the e-mail address indicated in "My Paris".
You must :
  • Comply with the recommendations and any restrictions specified in the authorization;
  • Place the AOT behind the windscreen of vehicles used for parking outside the pay lane;
  • Obligatory declaration of vehicle registrations, via the link on the e-mail granting the AOT. This declaration can be made right up to the last minute (arrival on site).
Please note: if you do not declare your vehicle registration, the AOT is no longer valid and you may receive a Forfait Post-Stationnement (FPS).

Refusal of request or move without AOT

You wish to move without requesting an AOT
or
your request is rejected by e-mail via the e-mail address given in "My Paris" (e.g. parking not possible at the address or on the date requested).
In these 2 cases :
  • Parking is only permitted in the paid parking lane. All prohibited, inconvenient or very inconvenient parking is subject to fines and removal of the vehicles concerned (e.g. delivery zones, sidewalks, etc.);
  • Payment of the parking fee is required. In the event of non-payment or insufficient payment, a Forfait Post-Stationnement (FPS) is issued;
  • The maximum authorized parking time is 6 consecutive hours on the same site. After 6 hours, the vehicle must be moved, failing which it will be subject to fines and removal;
  • The use of a furniture lift is prohibited.

Questions & Answers

1. Who should I contact if I need help?

In all cases, please contact the removals department at the following address: [dvd-demenagement puis paris.fr après le signe @]qiq-qrzrantrzrag@cnevf.se[dvd-demenagement puis paris.fr après le signe @]

If you have submitted an application and have an AOT number, please let us know.

2. How do I track my application?

You can consult your Mon Paris dashboard to check the progress of your request and find all the e-mails sent by our digital service.

3. Do I need to apply for a moving permit?

No, it's optional.
However, holding this authorization allows :
  • Park if necessary outside the paid parking lane (delivery zone, bus lane, sidewalk, etc.), subject to the conditions specified on the permit;
  • Parking on the same site for more than six consecutive hours;
  • Using a furniture lift;
  • To reserve a place by your own means for the duration of the authorization;
  • To park on another paying space in case your space is not available;
  • Benefit from a lower rate than the rotating parking rate;
  • Anticipate certain particularities of your move linked to the configuration of Parisian roads and obtain alternative proposals;
  • A reminder of the regulations applicable to removals, in particular safety and traffic regulations which, if not respected, expose people to danger and are grounds for fines.

4. I'm moving to Paris. What are the rules?

When moving, the rules governing the use of public space must be respected.
The AOT issued to you may allow you to be exempt from some of these rules, but it does include specific safety requirements that must be followed.
In all cases, the Paris removals guide serves as a reference:

5. I'm moving within Paris. Will I need to submit a single application for both addresses?

No, you need to submit two separate applications: one for the move and one for the move-in.

6. When can I move?

Exclusively between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., for safety and noise reasons.
However, you can sell your place outside these times (see next question/answer).

7. How do I reserve my parking space?

The AOT does not constitute a parking reservation.
However, your request may be accompanied by a long-term parking period (reservation of parking spaces as and when they become available). You, not the City of Paris, will be responsible for this.
You are allowed to use cones to mark your parking spot.
Please note that long-term parking is invoiced and must therefore be included in the duration of occupancy of the space.
Example: I'm applying for an AOT from 7am to 12pm, and plan to vacate during the 7am-9am time slot, then move during the 9am-12am time slot.
However, the following are not possible in the case of a move:
  • An order prohibiting parking or blocking traffic;
  • Vehicle removal.
You should also know that if your parking space is occupied, the AOT issued will allow you to occupy any free space in the nearby paid parking strip.

8. How long before the move should I submit my application online?

At least 15 days before the move.
Requests made less than 15 days before the moving date may not be processed in time.
In the absence of a reply, your request will be deemed to have been refused.

9. If I don't receive a reply, what should I do?

The first thing to do is consult your Mon Paris dashboard to check the progress of your request and find all the e-mails sent by our digital service.
In fact, your mailbox may have mistakenly blocked our e-mails as "spam".

If your request has not been processed 4 days before your move, please notify [dvd-demenagement puis paris.fr après le signe @]qiq-qrzrantrzrag@cnevf.se[dvd-demenagement puis paris.fr après le signe @], indicating :

  • Your application number
  • Your telephone number

10. How to pay?

You can pay by :
  • Credit card via the proposed online site. This is the preferred method of payment, as it automatically issues the AOT.
  • By cheque, but please note that this requires additional processing time (approximately 10 days). Your cheque should be addressed to "Régie du Stationnement", with the AOT application number preceded by a "D" (for Déménagement) on the back , and accompanied by the invoice, to be sent to :
    VILLE DE PARIS
    Direction de la Voirie et des Déplacements
    Section du Stationnement sur Voie Publique (SSVP)
    Régie du stationnement (removals)
    22 rue du Château des Rentiers 75013 Paris.

11. My move will take several days. How do I make my request?

If the move spans over a few days: submit a single request, specifying start and end dates and times.
  • Example: For a move from Monday noon to Tuesday noon: only one request is submitted.
If the move is discontinuous: formulate as many requests as there are discontinuities.
  • Example: For a move spread over Saturday afternoon and the following Monday, with no activity on Sunday: 2 separate requests are submitted.

12. What is a "parking zone" in the context of an AOT application?

The parking zone corresponds to one or more vehicles of the same type (light vehicle, heavy goods vehicle, furniture lift), parked on a parking space of the same type (paid parking lane, delivery space, open road, etc.).
Examples:
  • If you wish to park two light vehicles and one furniture lift on a paid parking strip, you will need to create two parking zones in the AOT application;
  • If you wish to park one heavy goods vehicle in a pay parking lane and one in a delivery space, you will need to create two parking zones in the AOT application.
Please note: do not create multiple parking zones for the same vehicle, or you will be charged for each zone. These are not parking options, but actual parking.

13. Which locations are off-limits?

With rare exceptions, no AOT for removals can be issued for the following locations:
  • Places reserved for cash-in-transit ;
  • Police parking spaces ;
  • Bus stops ;
  • Cycle paths.

14. Can I use a furniture lift?

Yes, if I have a moving permit, I can use a furniture lift on public property.
Please note:
Basic safety rules must be observed when using a furniture lift. Failure to do so may be considered a criminal offence by the police.
Respecting the Paris moving instructions is imperative.
Information on the use of furniture lifts from Recommendation R458 of the Comité technique national des Industries, des Transports, de l'Eau, du Gaz, de l'Électricité, du Livre et de la Communication.

15. What should I do if I'm moving near a food market or a sensitive site?

Food market: moving trucks will not be allowed to park on market days.
Sensitive sites (institutions, embassies, etc.): additional supporting documents and the agreement of nearby institutions may be required.

16. My move is scheduled during a "Paris Respire" day

During the "Paris Respire" operation, areas closed to traffic remain exceptionally accessible for removals, subject to presentation of proof of the concerned address, in addition to the AOT issued by us.

17. I wish to cancel, postpone or modify my move

In all cases, please contact the removals department ([dvd-demenagement puis paris.fr après le signe @]qiq-qrzrantrzrag@cnevf.se[dvd-demenagement puis paris.fr après le signe @]), quoting your AOT application number.

Modification of an AOT before it is issued (postponement, change of parking zone, etc.) is possible at no extra cost if requested at least 2 working days before the date of the move.
Rescheduling of an AOT after it has been issued (postponement, change of parking zone, etc.) is possible if requested at least 2 working days before the date of the move. Additional payment will be required if the scope of services is increased.
No refund of the AOT is possible in the event of cancellation, except in cases of force majeure.
