While the star of Square René-Viviani is undoubtedly the oldest tree in Paris, a robinia planted in 1601, the site near Notre-Dame (Paris Centre) also features some magnificent flowering trees. Among them are Japanese cherry trees, which, in season, are adorned with splendid pink blossoms. An idyllic view of the cathedral!

A true haven of peace, the Jardin des Plantes features one of the most remarkable specimens of Japanese cherry tree. Standing 4 meters tall and spanning over 15 meters wide, it impresses not only with its size but also with its spreading form and horizontal branches. As a member of the Shirotae variety, it showcases exceptional flowering: its fragrant, double flowers bloom to pure white from pale pink buds.

The Albert-Kahn garden, renowned for its beauty, even surpasses the museum it houses. This tranquil, Japanese-inspired haven features traditional houses, a tea pavilion, small red wooden bridges, pebble banks, and an azalea-covered mound reminiscent of Mount Fuji, all designed by Japanese landscape architect Fumiaki Takano. In spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom, the spectacle is simply dazzling.
